Technical question about my SIM card and received SMS sent to someone else!

Posted: 30 Jan 2013 01:10 AM PST

Hi guys,

I have a wird question.
I have bought Nokia N95 from ebay as second hand phone.
I turned on my phone and checked everything, looked fine.
After 30 minutes I put in my Orange SIM card, after this my phone got network connection (mobile range) and .... I got SMS!

... But this SMS was not for me! Received SMS has been sent to previous owner who had T-mobile Sim Card!
Moreover, this 'not my' SMS was quite long (consist 7 times SMS per 160 signs).

I was wondering about this case. If this SMS has been stucked in phone memory, I should got it after reboot without SIM card (my new one) - am I right? but I got him until I put my orange SIM.
Do you know what happened? Could you please explain me technical site? Thx in advance!

I have Nokia N95.
After first turn on - Inbox was completely empty.

Air Mouse Glove

Posted: 28 Jan 2013 12:18 AM PST

Air Mouse Glove is very similar to a glove. It is even like a glove when you see it from distance. Air Mouse Glove has a very ingenious personal design. It has been embedded several sensors inside, which can track all the motions from users' wrist and finger, and transfer all the signals to the computer. And the ring on the index finger has the same function with the right button on the mouse.

You just need to move your hand to move the cursor. Comparing to the common mouse, the operation is much easier. Its function is a little like the Kinect. In addition, Air Mouse Glove does not need any special software to support. You just need to insert the sensor into the USB interface, and then operate the TV Box, PC and any other Android devices. You can view it here: extraordinary-gadgets.net/use-the-air-mouse-glove-to-operate-your-tv-box.html

Looking for phone with FM radio

Posted: 26 Jan 2013 11:52 AM PST

Hello, everyone. I'm new here and hoping to get some suggestions for the kind of phone I'm looking for. I'm actually a very simple person when it comes to the kind of phones I like; I currently have a Samsung Corby Pro and decided on this one a couple of years ago because I wanted one that made it easy to text and allow me to listen to my local radio stations. I know it'll seem silly, but that's what I look for in phones, a built-in FM radio. Never mind apps or streaming radio or whatever it is that other people use, I like a phone that comes with an FM radio, simple. However, not many phones do have this feature, so now that I'm looking to buy something a little newer that's all touchtone (no slide-out keyboard), I'm asking for some suggestions. Is there an updated version of the Corby Pro or anything newer with similar features? I also love that my Corby allows me to record songs from the radio, but I know that's asking for too much, so I guess as long as it's a touchtone phone that comes with a radio, I'm happy. That's really all I need my phone for, calls, texting, listening to my music, and taking photos. I don't use it much for being online (only once in a while, like when I'm bored waiting at a Dr.'s appt. or something), as I prefer to do that from my computer only. Thanks.

Samsung Will Release 5.8-inch Galaxy Fonblet 5.8

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 08:14 PM PST

We all know that Samsung Galaxy Note is the pioneer of the large-screen smart phones. From the first 5.3-inch Galaxy Note to the second-generation 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II, they all are accepted by the world. Of course, many other manufacturers also launched their own large-screen smart phones, but they are all the followers of Samsung Galaxy Note. And now, the latest news shows that Samsung is about to release a larger smart phone with 5.8-inch huge touch screen, which is the same as Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8.

It is said that the new large smart phone will be named Galaxy Fonblet 5.8, and the model will be GT-T9152. This product will be equipped with a 5.8-inch touch screen with 540 x 960 pixels. And it will support dual SIM dual card, and will be used the same pure white color as Galaxy Player 5.8. Right now, we do not know the other main specifications on this phone, and the release date is also unknown yet. You can view it here: extraordinary-gadgets.net/category/smartphone

Affordable Smart Phone?

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 05:05 PM PST

My hubby and I both have basic flip phones with prepaid Verizon service. He's fine with his, but lately I've been thinking about upgrading. Are there any affordable smart phones out there? By affordable, I mean maybe a couple hundred up front to purchase and less than $50/month for service.

Inexpensive Low Signal Solutions?

Posted: 09 Jan 2013 10:15 AM PST

As mentioned in a previous post "Best Network Local Coverage Website?" http://cellphoneforums.net/general-cell-phone-forum/t349813-best-network-local-coverage-website.html, I will be moving to a hilly rural area with significant variations in cell phone reception.

Noticed many houses in this rural area have acceptable reception outdoors but when go inside the reception is unacceptable.

Does anyone know of any inexpensive solutions for this low signal "in house" problem?

Thanks

Matilda

Would 4G make you want to switch networks?

Posted: 18 Jan 2013 01:23 AM PST

Hi everyone,

This is related to a piece of research conducted by Virgin based on the UK market - but is still valid for nearly all markets worldwide.

At the moment in the UK, only one network has the right to supply a 4G service, but that is all set to change in the coming weeks when the bidding process for the remaining spectrum is auctioned by the UK Government.

The bidding is expected to results in approx £3.5 billion for the Government.

With all this money being talked about, Virgin did some research into whether or not it was worth it, and posted the results saying that 90% of people WOULDN'T switch for a network offering 4G.

More on the article can be found here: http://www.mobileunlocked.co.uk/news...itch-networks/

I just wondered, especially from our US cousins, whose market now has a few 4G networks, have people been switching to use the new data speeds? Or, are you hoping to unlock your phone so you can make use of one?

Best Network Local Coverage Website?

Posted: 05 Jan 2013 11:37 AM PST

Will be moving from New York City to rural Catskills which is hilly and mountainous with spotty coverage for all Networks so am trying to do my homework before getting a phone.

A more knowledgeable friend said a coverage over a geographic map is the best for hilly/mountainous areas because of shadows/dead spots.

Before posting checked the forum to see if anyone had asked a similar question but found no mention of coverage over a geographic map.

Then Googled and found

Root Wireless ...reviews.cnet.com/cell-phone-coverage-map/

CellReception.com ...cellreception.com/ which has "Cell Phone Towers Locate cell phone towers in the neighborhood, who owns them, and see exactly where they are hidden. The database contains FCC registered antennas nationwide We've taken towers registered with the FCC and mashed it with Google Maps for a convenient graphical interface to see towers within your area.

Unfortunately, not every antenna is needs to be registered with the FCC, and the map may not list all the towers in the area. But most are included.

In additional, many carriers "rent" towers from third-party companies -- and leasing agreements are unknown. If this is the case, the best way to determine carrier coverage is by reading comments in the local area. To see details, including who owns the tower, click on the red marker and the link that pops up in the bubble."

This is the best I have found to date but am wondering if anyone has found anything better?

Thanks

Matilda
