Temple Run is the most popular Android game today. Temple Run is the (possibly all matches) most people heartbeat fun parkour game, but this time the opponents are not racing, but a group of monsters, as well as themselves.

LG Optimus from TM vs Samsung Galaxy from BestBuy. What is actual price difference?

Posted: 05 Sep 2013 05:30 PM PDT

Choice 1 is from T-Mobile:
LG Optimus L9
Pay Today:$0
+ $10.00 x 24/mo. If you cancel your wireless service, remaining balance on phone becomes due. Total $240.00 0% APR O.A.C. for well-qualified buyers.
As far as I understand the total here will come out to 240usd

Choice 2 is from Best Buy:
Samsung - Galaxy S II 4G--SKU: 6875855
Total for this phone will be 79.99+0(keep your existing data plant)+18(upgrade fee)+7(tax)=106$??

Both phone are basically the same as far as I'm concerned. What I want is smallest overall payment. Am I assumptions about what I will pay correct?

That is buying from T-Mobile I will end up paying 240$ TOTAL. On the other hand my total payment if I go with Samsung from BestBuy will be 106$ TOTAL.
Please share your thoughts.

thanks

Goophone S4 Mega Questions...

Posted: 03 Sep 2013 04:31 PM PDT

I was pondering this; the overseas replica Goophone of the Samsung Galaxy S4 claims to be "unlocked" and thus works with GSM and WCDMA, but what does this mean? I guess I'm wondering if this means it will work with straighttalk sim cars or tracfone sims, something along those lines. Also, does the data still function. I'm no phone guru so any advice would help!!!!! Thx.

BlackBerry C-series 'Americano' might combine best of the Z and Q

Posted: 24 Sep 2013 11:49 PM PDT

BlackBerry isn't doing so hot, with losses and layoffs in its future, but the latest leak says that its next scrabbling handhold on the receding cliff face of profitability is a new budget line called the BlackBerry C-series.

The BlackBerry C (code name: Americano) is said to combine the best existing BlackBerry 10 devices like the Z- and Q-series phones: sleek design with budget specs, respectively.

That will keep the BlackBerry C series looking fresh to consumers while appealing with a lower price point than the high-end Z-line, like the just-announced BlackBerry Z30. Or at least, that's reportedly the idea.

If it's true, the Americano will be mucking about in the just-released iPhone 5C's neck of the sea, which may not be the best place to tread water right now.
Click image for larger version.     Name:	blackberry_c-series_top-578-80.jpg   Views:	49   Size:	35.3 KB   ID:	53282

The leaks keep flowing

News broke today that BlackBerry has agreed to an initial offer that could see it bought and taken private again by a group led by financial holdings company.

That pretty-big-deal news didn't stop leaks of its alleged smartphone plans, however.

As far as detailed specs, we've got little to go on where the BlackBerry C is concerned, besides the promise of specs similar to the chunky, QWERTY-equipped, budget-priced BlackBerry Q5.

Besides that, the only morsel is that the initial BlackBerry C-series device will reportedly have a full-sized 4.2-inch 720 x 1280 touchscreen, no QWERTY and 4G LTE compatibility.

The phone is said to be in testing stages currently.

Inevitable comparisons

Word of the BlackBerry C-series fits perfectly with the company's recent admission that it will back off from the consumer market soon and release just four new phones in the future, instead of the previously planned six.

Of those four unannounced devices, two are high-end offerings and two are entry-level phones, like what the BlackBerry C is being described as.

Comparisons with the iPhone 5C will be inevitable (imagine if they call it the BB C5?), but the "budget" iPhone has done pretty well for itself since its launch alongside the iPhone 5S this past weekend.

Combined sales for both new iPhones hit 9 million in just three days, though Apple isn't detailing the exact split and TechRadar's digging indicates tentatively that the higher-end iPhone 5S is, in fact, in greater demand.

Posted: 23 Sep 2013 09:21 AM PDT

Whenever the topic of an unlocked phone comes up in anywhere, I immediately point out that owning a locked cell is an imprudent thing. You will have it easy within and when traveling abroad if your mobile phone is unlocked for travel. unlock your mobile phone with free unlock codes at www.freeunlocks.com

Firstly, buyers of unlocked phones can travel freely without having to worry about high costs of roaming. Yes, now it is possible to travel without burdening yourself with paying heavy amounts to the networking companies that charge colossal amounts for the same. Now, you can travel unlocked using your mobile everywhere you go without any hitch. With an unlocked phone, you save a lot because it allows you to use any SIM card that you may wish to use for your day to day work. The best part about using an unlocked phone is the huge variety of networks that could be used anywhere. When traveling abroad, you can insert any local SIM attached with any local networking company instead of using your own expensive network that will surely put a big dent on your pocket. Hence, now you not only reduce your call rates but also cut quite a lot on text messages too.

Also, an unlocked phone serves a great deal to frequent travelers who need to travel a lot for their work and business since it allows them to separate their calls as per requirements. Ok this is a long story. I live in a rural area in Colo with no phones. over the last 8 years I have had Alltel, Verizon and Sprint. Verizon worked fair, Alltel sucked, and Sprint was wonderful, till they kicked me off their network because they said I was ALWAYS roaming. When they did they said I was coming off of AT&T towers. So I went with Trac phone and it works Ok here but not at all at my vacation home in Texas. Tracphone uses the Verizon net work here and my LG86c is supposed to use both 900 and 1400 services. I was considering purchasing an unlocked phone
and switching sim cards when I go to either house but am not sure how well that would work. AT&T does not work here but is the carrier of choice in Texas. Does someone have a simple, not to expensive solution? I don't mind paying for the phone but 2 carriers/service plans?

Blackberry Z30 Offers Firm's Biggest Handset Yet

Posted: 19 Sep 2013 11:57 PM PDT

Blackberry has announced its biggest smartphone to date.

The Z30 features a 5in (12.7cm) screen and a relatively large battery, which, the company says, should last more than two days between charges.
It is the first product to be released by the Canadian company since it announced last month that it was considering putting itself up for sale.
Some analysts have suggested a deal could result in its handset division being shut down.
They say the company's patents, software and cash reserves could make it worth about $5bn (£3.1bn).
However, they add the hardware unit itself has “negative value” and any suitor might wish to do a deal in which they did not have to acquire it.
“Why would you want to own a platform that is obviously in decline?” asked Colin Gillis, director of research at investment advisers BGC Financial.
“Android is clearly number one, Apple's iOS is number two, and now Windows Phone is number three.
“Blackberry's hardware and operating system themselves are fine, but there's not much more beyond that - it's not a meaningful platform.”
Click image for larger version.     Name:	Blackberry Z30.jpg   Views:	39   Size:	12.1 KB   ID:	53198

App store gaps

According to market-research company IDC, Blackberry accounted for 9.3% of all smartphones shipped to the UK during the first half of the year, thanks in part to interest generated by the launch of its new operating system BB10.
But its position elsewhere is much weaker. The company only accounted for 1.7% of all smartphones shipped to the US and 0.1% to China, the world's biggest markets, during the same period, according to IDC.
The announcement of the new handset indicates the company wish to emulate the several Android manufacturers who have found success with larger screens.
Samsung and Sony are among the companies that have recently unveiled new so-called “phablets”.
But Blackberry faces the problem that its app store is still missing several of the big-name programs available for Google's operating system. One expert warned that the current uncertainty over its future might discourage software writers from filling in those gaps.
“The rumours might affect developers and that in turn might affect consumers - even if many are not aware of the problems that Blackberry currently finds itself in,” said Tony Cripps, principal analyst at the telecoms consultancy Ovum.
“The same issue really surrounds a 5in Blackberry device as their other smaller ones.
The updated operating system will be made available to all BB10 devices
“By going it alone as far as its platform and ecosystem strategy is concerned, it's pretty much left itself at great risk of not putting together an offering that is very appealing either to the end user or the third-party developers.”

System update

Blackberry said the Z30 would be released in the UK and Middle East next week, ahead of other regions.
It is also releasing an update to its operating system - taking it to version 10.2------which it said offered ”hundreds of refinements plus many new features”.
These include the ability to preview and respond to messages without having to switch out of whatever app the owner is using, and the introduction of a “priority hub” that groups together information and emails that the device judges to be most important to the user.
The firm said that the update should be available to owners of its existing Z10 and Q10 devices from mid-October.

Methods to Get the Reason Why Cell Phone Batteries Can’t be Charged

Posted: 16 Sep 2013 02:12 AM PDT

Have you ever met the situation that your cell phone battery can not be charged? What will you do at this time? Are you go to maintenance shops for help? :confused:Actually, we can find the reason by ourselves. Below is the steps to get the reason.

1. Link your cell phone with the charger and plug the charger in. If your cell phone battery can not be charged at this time, the problem may caused by the broken charger, out-of-order connecting line, raddled connector of your cell phone, the spoiled battery or the cell phone operation system. We can not sure what the reason is now and we need to do the next step.

2. Apply another connecting line or another plug of the charger to charge your phone. If the battery can be charged, we can know that the charging failure results from the connecting line or the charger plug.:( If not, the reason may be the problem of the connector of the cell phone, the battery or the cell phone operation system.

3. Now, you should take the battery out of your cell phone if allowed. What you should do now is to charge the battery with a universal charger. If it can be charged, the broken part must be the connector of your cell phone. Otherwise, there may be something wrong with the cell phone battery or the cell phone operation system.

4. At this time, you should try to charge a replacement battery in your cell phone. If replacement battery can be charged, it implies that the battery mentioned before is broken. Otherwise, the trouble is caused by the operation system of your phone. Many people are clear about how the cell phone operation system influence the charging of batteries. Simply speaking, when the battery information recorded in the system log is not correct, the charging may be affected.

BlackBerry Z10 battery exhausted suddenly

Posted: 15 Sep 2013 10:46 PM PDT

Hello,

I bought a Blackberry on April Z10. For over a month, the battery no longer holds as long. Well, the battery life has not been overwhelmed me. Could predict a full day work usually always so close with the phone before I have to plug it into a cable (8 to 20 clock).

Jetzt wolle ich einen Ersatzakku (von MPJ Battery) kaufen. Habt ihr diesen Akku genutzt, ist er gut? Ach! Wie kann ich mein Z10 retten???????:ah::ah::ah:

Greetings

PS: by the way is a contract free phone

Steps to Reset a Lithium Ion Cell Phone Battery

Posted: 12 Sep 2013 10:41 PM PDT

Lithium ion batteries are the power source of choice for cellphones. Lithium ion batteries are manufactured with a circuit that functions as a kind of fuel gauge. The circuit uses the battery voltage to estimate the "state-of-charge", that is, the amount of usable power remaining. Over time the circuit will become inaccurate and must be reset. Otherwise the cell phone may shut off unexpectedly even though readouts indicate the battery still has power remaining.

1. Use the lithium ion battery installed in the cell phone until the battery power is completely consumed. This will not harm the lithium ion battery because it comes with an internal "safety board".

2. Take the battery out of the cell phone and put it on a charger which is designed for the lithium ion battery. With the charger turned off, connect the battery to the charger following manufacturer's instructions.

3. Plug the charger in and allow the battery to be fully charged. Normally this will take 2 to 4 hours, depending on the remaining battery power. The charger will sense a voltage drop characteristic of the lithium ion battery reaching full charge and automatically stop the charging.:)

4. Turn the charger off. Now the state-of-charge circuit is reset. Remove the battery and return it to the cell phone which it powers. It's best to use the cell phone immediately for a short period to drain some of the battery power. Lithium ion batteries can last longer if they are not left at full charge.;)

5. Repeat the reset procedure about once a month (every 30 recharges or so) to ensure the state-of-charge circuit is functioning properly.

Is Your Cell Phone Battery Dead?

Posted: 12 Sep 2013 02:03 AM PDT

Now the batteries of most cell phones are rechargeable lithium ion batteries. This type of battery can recharge 300 to 500 charge cycles to its full capacity before it will not charge fully. If your cell phone needs charging more often or the charge lasts for several hours less than when the battery was new, you may need to replace it with a new one. Testing the battery to obtain its capacity will tell you if you need a new cell phone battery.
Click image for larger version.     Name:	charging.jpg   Views:	6   Size:	16.5 KB   ID:	53166

1. Plug the cell phone into its charger and plug the other end in to an electrical outlet. Allow the cell phone battery to be charged to full capacity.

2. Press and hold the power button on the cell phone to turn it off. Let the phone power down and remove the back cover to access the battery.

3. Remove the cell phone battery and observe the label for the voltage. The voltage of most cell phone batteries are 3.4 to 4.5 volts.

4. Turn on a multimeter. A multimeter can test current flow in voltage and amps and also resistance in a circuit. Place the black test probe on the negative battery contact and the red test probe on the positive battery contact. The contacts are on the edge or bottom of the battery and marked negative (-) and positive (+).
Click image for larger version.     Name:	Multimeter.jpg   Views:	3   Size:	86.3 KB   ID:	53167

5. Place one test probe on the left terminal and one on the right, if the battery terminals are not marked. These are usually the correct terminals and the multimeter will show a positive reading. If the meter shows a negative reading, move the left or right probe to the middle terminal until one pair shows a positive reading.

6. Read the display on the multimeter. The voltage should be the same or a little higher than the battery label due to the fact that batteries hold an additional charge above the full charge mark when they have just been charged.

Need help finding a new phone...

Posted: 11 Sep 2013 09:42 PM PDT

Guys, I need some phone buying advice.

I don't use it much so I don't need all the latest things but I do have a few requirements.

The last one I bought and the one I have now is the Nexus One. I got it when it first came out
I like it but the touch sensitivity is crap and I'm tired of having to click 5-10 times sometimes.

Also, speaker volume is not enough and the speaker quality is so, so.

Camera quality is $HIT!

Here is what I need. Note, I DO NOT want an iPhone in case someone was going to recommend me one.

Size about the same as the Nexus one. I need a decent size screen as my eyes are bad. I do NOT need a bigger phone.

Android so that I can pimp it with an app that will let me make ALL the fonts bigger.

Crisp and bright screen.

Good touch sensitivity.

LOUD speaker and good quality. For voice only, not much need for music.

I would like to be able to use this with voice dial for future use with headset and hands free in my truck.

Something cheap that I can buy right now and I would consider used or even something directly from one of the chinese
sites, as long as it does what I want.

UNLOCKED for use with my own sim card. I DO NOT do contracts.

Good quality camera.

I'm not sure how a dual sim card phone works but IF it's possible to have one phone that I can have two numbers on and be able to answer any of those numbers, WITHOUT having to power down and changing to a different number, then I would really like that.

Also, I have another question. I have two google voice numbers but they will only let me forward calls to ONE cellphone number. Ie, I have a google number ending with 1111 and I can forward it to my cell but I cannot forward the calls from google number 2222 to my cell.

They will however allow me to forward calls from both google numbers to my home number...?

Is there a way around that so that I can answer calls from BOTH google numbers on my phone?

I don't do facebook or twitter or stuff like that and I only do a few minutes a month on my phone. ALL I do is make calls
and the occasional browsing and checking out youtube videos.

Thanks

George

Tips for Storing Lithium Ion Batteries

Posted: 11 Sep 2013 02:11 AM PDT

Nowadays, rechargeable lithium ion batteries are commonly used in cell phones and other portable devices. The batteries can be stored when they are not installed in a device, for a period of time without irreparable harm. If lithium ion batteries are stored in conditions that are too hot or cold, or without any charge, they may not be able to be revived when they are needed.

1. Using a battery charger that is meant for lithium ion batteries, charge your batteries. Lithium ion batteries had better be charged at least at 40 percent to avoid future charging problems. If you battery is completely power off, you need to charge it for about half an hour to get to 40 percent.

2. Find a cool and dry place to store your lithium ion batteries. Avoid storing your batteries in the basement, bathroom or other areas of your house that are or may be wet. Ideal temperature ranges for the storage of lithium ion battery are between 0 and 60 degrees F.

3. Refrigerate your batteries if you do not have any other place to keep them that is temperature-controlled. Remember to use the fridge part only and not the freezer, which can become too cold and kill your batteries.

4. Avoid placing your batteries in a drawer that is in direct sunlight for any part of the day. Lithium ion batteries may lead to explosion if they are exposed to extreme heat or light.

5. Take out your batteries and partially charge them or use them in an electronic device, however briefly, every few months. This will revive the charge and prolong the life of your batteries. A lithium battery slowly loses its charge even when it is stored.

Posted: 08 Sep 2013 07:49 AM PDT

i was under the assumption that w/o a sim card & no current service provider i'd be able to use public wifi signals. what is the exact line of demarcation between a "smartphone" and a regular phone? my phone has android 2.2 OS, & 1ghz processor, is it "smart"?
