medium priced unlocked Android phone for ATT prepaid

Posted: 03 Dec 2011 08:21 PM PST

I need an unlocked GSM Android phone that will work with the ATT prepaid plan ( sim card ).

I've read some reviews on Amazon ( Samsung HTC ) and it's pretty confusing.

I'm looking in the $200-$300 price range.

The phone isn't for me, it's for a non-technical person, so it can't be a phone that requires a lot of expert geek hacking to work properly.

Can anyone recommend a good phone ?

Would an iPhone 4 / 32 Gb for $490 be a good price?

Posted: 03 Dec 2011 06:03 PM PST

Hello,

I found an iPhone for sale which I think it's a pretty good deal, what do you guys think? Is $490 a good price for the iPhone 4/32Gb?

As I'm a new member, I can't post links, but if you go to a site called chutebox [dot] com you can search for the iPhone and see the product for sale there.

Please let me know your opinions.

Thanks!

Transfer contacts and contents from mobile phone to another

Posted: 03 Dec 2011 03:18 AM PST

As we know, iPhone SIM card only copy to iPhone, but iPhone can't copy it back to the SIM card with the former that is used for iPhone. We can find ways to begin by syncing your iPhone contacts over to Gmail, then move all of your iPhone contacts over to your Google account, which will be synced to your new Android device during it's initial setup.

Here I outline the ways that you can avail to transfer contacts easily and quickly to the new phone. The process of transferring the contacts may vary in accordance to the model and the OS of your handset, even Android Tablet or iPad. As mentioned, from iphone to android phone, or from android phone to iphone.

Transfer contacts from iPhone to Android phone, there is a simple initial load. Login to gmail and export your contacts to contacts.vcf . Then email contacts.vcf to your carrier provided account (for example: name#pm. theideasforgift dot com # of @). Then open the attachment on iPhone and allow your iPhone to import all contacts. It's done.

Another, if you want to move other contents like music, video or ebooks from your previous mobile phone like iPhone to the brand new Blackberry or android phone, iPad/iPhone/iPod to Computer Transfer at asoftmall can help you back up songs, videos, photos, playlists, podcasts, Folder Rule and more to any folder on your computer desktop directly with auto-scans your iPod, iPad or iPhone device when running. The details will then get transferred to your new phones from your computer. Besides, you can manage ipod/ipad/iphone contents together if you want.

For users of Windows Mobile, such as Samsung or HTC, Microsoft's Device Center or ActiveSync applications can be used to copy the contacts to your computer through Outlook. For transfer of contacts from a Windows Phone to another, it can be easily done with help of Microsoft's My Phone service. It's said the service will shut down, if so, it's really a pity if it really done for windows users.

Use Mobical, an online service that is available free and is also compatible with mobile phones like Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson etc. All you need to do is setup the application in your old phone and create a backup of contacts in the cloud. Then again setup Mobical in your new handset and enjoy automatic download of all the contacts from the old to the new one.

If your mobile phone is internet enabled, then you can transfer mobile Phone Contacts via app online and it becomes much easier. You can transfer your contacts freely and will not even require the help of a computer, but have not for iphone yet.

good place for phone cards?

Posted: 02 Dec 2011 06:12 AM PST

I got this blackberry curve 8330 phone on ebay, and i want to know what I have to do in order to use it. It uses verizon wireless but I can't call anyone and the phone number is one from a different state.

So my questions are, how can I get some prepaid minutes in a cheap way. I only probably need 20-30 minutes atm. What are some cheap places? This is my first cell phone so I'm new to all this. And will the number show up as a public number because I would prefer that as some people redirect private calls to voice mail which isn't what I want.

Also if i wanted to change the phone number, how would i do that? If it means paying a lot more or something than i'd rather not.

This site looks good, the saturn card: eecalling . c o m

How-to: Turn a Cell Phone Into A Remote Listening Device

Posted: 02 Dec 2011 01:36 AM PST

This is an easy way to convert any cellphone into a baby monitor or spy-like device. In order to do this, you will need:
  • A fully charged phone with auto-answer feature on an active wireless plan

Preparation
  • Start off by inspecting your Audio/Volume options to make sure that the speaker is off.
  • Enable the Auto-Answer function on your cell phone.
  • Mute your microphone.
  • Set all incoming ringtones to silent. If your phone does not have a silent option, you can create or download a "silent ringtone" that will emit no sound.
  • Disable vibration; the phone at this point should not emit any sound or vibration when called or messaged.

Installation

Place the cell phone in the desired location. Consider dimming or covering the screen up just in case you do not want any light from the screen being emitted when you use it later. You could conceal it inside an object with the mouthpiece of the phone sticking or facing outward. You may simply want to leave it out in the open.

Use

Now it is time to test the device. Place a call to the cell phone from preferably another cell phone so you can be in the room at the same time. Do a test; make some noise and see how well sound transfers through the recording cell phone to your cell phone that is calling. If successful, whenever you call:
  • It will automatically pick up the phone.
  • Nobody will hear anything because all sounds and vibrations are disabled.
  • If you have covered the screen, no light will be emitted and visible in dark rooms.
  • No one can hear you because the microphone is muted.
  • You can hear everything.

Help finding an older Used Smartphone- Which one?

Posted: 01 Dec 2011 09:31 AM PST

We recently upgraded my phone, and in doing that, had to sign a new 2 year contract for our family plan w/ T-Mobile. That was 2 weeks ago and now my husband has decided he wants a new phone as well. WE called and he was told he is not eligible for a phone discount now because we just did an upgrade to get my phone discount. Anyway, we are very frustrated because his phone is now not charging. He has my old phone which is a Gravity T and now wants a smartphone. Since we cannot get a new phone at a discount, I am looking to get him a used phone. I am looking on Craigslist and trying to research T-Mobiles phones. My budget is around $100 and these are the options I have found that are in really good condition and in my price range:

Samsung Galaxy S 4G
Samsung Galaxy Vibrant
Motorola Defy
Samsung Exhibit 4G
MyTouch 4G
MyTouch 4G Slide

He mainly will use it for email, navigation, web browsing, and Facebook. He wants a bigger screen than the Gravity T.

Are there other used Smartphones that I should be looking for as well under $150? Should I rule any of these out? Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

Thanks!
Kristi
