Need Help Choosing a new Phone

Posted: 16 Sep 2014 08:54 PM PDT

Hi guys,

I'm buying my wife a new phone for her birthday. The main/dominant purpose of the phone would be to take pictures, browse the internet and of course making phone calls, facebook etc. Absolutely no games.I'm looking at a screen size of 4.5" - 5/.5" .. Larger screen is better for browsing.

I'm considering the xperia z2 /z3 (which ever is available) and the iphone (most likely 6).

My main concern is the picture quality of the phones. From my experience, the iphone 5s takes amazingly great pictures (at auto mode) that no android can ever match. Of course android phones can take great pictures when the settings are tweaked but that will be out of the question. My wife is going to use it. She is just gonna rely wholly on auto mode.

I've read alot of great things about the Z2 but would like to know how it compares with the iphone typically in the following areas :-

1. Taking pictures of moving objects (mainly our baby who won't remain still) - my Lenovo K900 sucks at this no matter what settings i use (shutter speed is too slow). The Iphone 5s on the other hand takes brilliant pictures.

2. Taking pictures indoors. How does the z2 compare with the iphone's true tone flash?

I absolutely love the other z2 features - expandable storage, removable batteries, water proof, wireless charging, etc.

Having said that, the following features will not be relevant :-
1. 4k video recording (at least not for now) - HD is sufficient
2. fingerprint censor
3. anything to do with gaming.

A quick answer will be much appreciated.

Best regards,
Anand

Need help making a cell decision.. OnePlus / Iphone6 / Moto X

Posted: 15 Sep 2014 11:59 AM PDT

I currently have a oneplus one that I got about a week ago, and its an amazing phone to say the least. I was an avid iphone user since the iphone 3gs, but had an invite sent to me, and decided to take the plunge and go to android. I have recently retired the iphone 5S that I was using for this oneplus one. After using it for about a week, its really way too big for me to handle and pocket. I am looking for an alternative. I do like the Ios environment, but I also saw the new moto x (2014) in person and it fits my hand about 1000% better. I was wondering your thoughts on if I should keep the oneplus, or sell it and go with iphone 6, or get the moto x? Im not a total spec head and dont need the craziest of specs in a phone, just want something to last and be fast enough until next year. With my job, we get a chance to get a new phone every year, so Im not looking to keep something forever. I dont think the oneplus is a fit for me though. I used it about a week, and still not adjusting to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for a smartphone that behaves like a mini-PC.

Posted: 11 Sep 2014 10:24 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a phone with the following capabilities:

1. Making phone calls
2. Sending text
3. Web browsing
4. GPS navigation
5. Play music
6. Taking photos

I realize that almost every single smartphone has the above features, so I am particularly looking for a smartphone that excels at downloading and playing videos.

I want a smartphone that's like a mini-PC, in a sense that you can type in the URL in a browser and a download manager will take over the downloading. Once it finishes the download, the file will be saved to a destination on the phone that I have access to, and I can choose to play the video with different media players. More specifically, playing .MKV files.

I am currently using the iPhone 4S and it does not have the specific feature I mentioned above, so I am wondering if there's any phones out there that perform this function exceptionally. I have never touched a Android phone so I don't know if all Android phones have that capability.

Thank you for reading!
