| Which phone will work best for me? Posted: 12 Jun 2011 10:45 AM PDT I want to buy a phone which I can run native linux programs on it and can do multitasking(like opening several terminals at once). I already found N900 which has Maemo 5 on it which can do above. I can also install ubuntu on it, too. I've heard that I can also install Ubuntu on android devices. What is the best phone for me? N900 with Maemo? or with Ubuntu? or any other android device with ubuntu? Do I have any other options? And the having a keyboard, touchscreen, wireless lan are needed, too. The camera or things like that are not much important. By the way, I don't have any problem with bying phones out of stock(like N900).

| Switching on your Smartphone while on a flight may have dangerous consequences Posted: 12 Jun 2011 10:02 AM PDT  If you have ever switched on a Smartphone while on a flight please don't do that anymore. It's better to keep the phone in the flight mode when on a airplane because the International Air Transport Association found 75 cases from 2003 to 2009 where the interference from the Smartphones have an affect on flight's delicate devices like engine controls and important sensors. The recent study revealed that all interference where originated from mobile phones and portable electronic devices. If you have any hint about the devices which may be affected by mobile phones then you should never even think about switching it on while on a flight. According to the IATA among the 26 affected flight controls include autopilot, autothrust and the landing gear and 17 affected among among navigation system and 15 for communication systems. They say that about 40% issues they face in these categories are originated by the use of mobile phones. According to Boeing's Dave Carson who was a member of federal advisory committee the sensors which are under the passenger area are more affected. He says that the sensor will gave error reading like the position of the plane while landing which may result in fatal accidents. His investigation gave light to some shocking findings like BlackBerry handset and an Apple iPhone being the most dangerous devices while on a flight. And his findings states that Apple iPad gives out high intensity signals than all others. There are several incidents to prove the effects of mobile phones, like the autopilot itself turning off at 4500 feet and warning lights coming on. After the incident the crew immediately searched for the culprit and found 1 cell phone and 3 Apple iPods active. There is also another incident where a clock started spinning backwards. But there are people who are against these theories like former Air Force and Commercial Pilot John Nance, he says that there is no solid proof in support of this when considering the number of flights USA is having each day. He said that mobile phones can't be blamed alone for all the mishaps. Even though there are arguments please switch your phone to flight mode while boarding a plane because lot of lives will be at stake if the findings are true. Source
