Do you want out of your Verizon contract and have an unlimited data plan? I am looking for that plan. I would be willing to buy out your remaining contract and you would be free to go to any other carrier immediately. Please contact me only if your plan has the unlimited data package. Phone Newbie, Weird Question

Hello all,

I'm not sure this is the best subforum, but I will try:

I have never owned a cellphone. I am looking for my first, but don't really know enough about them to know what does and doesn't do what I need. Basically, my family is on AT&T, and I can't afford a data plan. I want phone and text obviously, and I would like a full QWERTY keyboard, which I assume is pretty easy to find cheapish. The final thing, though. is I am going to start college and really want a really good calender/day planner on there. I know so little about phones that I don't even know where to start for qualifying one. If I had a cheaper smart phone, with no data plan, could I use my broadband network at home to download and install free apps? Do a lot of cheaper phones just already have a good function like that? Can anyone provide me with a little guidance and maybe some recommendations? I don't know how any of this works.
