| How-to: Import, Export , Recover Contacts and More Using Sprint Force Posted: 11 Mar 2013 12:59 PM PDT Importing Contacts to Your Sprint Force 1. Go to the Home screen and tap Contacts. 2. In case the Contacts icon is no longer on the home screen, tap All Apps -> tap Contacts. 3. Then tap the Menu key -> select Import/Export -> choose Import from SD card. 4. Your Sprint Force will then start searching for and importing the vCard file from your microSD card. 5. In case you have more than one vCard saved on your microSD card, select the desired one and tap OK. 6. Your contacts will then be imported. Exporting Contacts from Your Sprint Force 1. Go to the Home screen and tap Contacts. 2. In case the Contacts icon is no longer on the home screen, tap All Apps -> tap Contacts. 3. Then tap the Menu key -> select Import/Export -> choose Export to SD card. 4. Tap OK. 5. Your contacts will then be exported to the microSD card. Adding or Removing a Contact 1. Go to the Home screen and tap Contacts. 2. Then touch the Add Contact icon -> Name your contact and tap the arrow icon located next to the Name field if you want to see additional fields. 3. Tap the Phone field and enter the 10-digit number of the contact. 4. Tap the Phone label field and select the desired label, for example Work. 5. Tap the Address field and enter the contact's address. 6. Continue entering the necessary information in the rest of the fields. 7. Once you're finished, tap Done. 8. Your contact will then be added. 9. If you want to delete a contact, you need to tap and hold it and then tap the Trashcan icon to remove it. 10. Tap OK when prompted. 11. Your contact will then be deleted. Recovering Contacts on the Sprint Force Your contacts can be recovered only if you have backed them up previously. You can recover them using the method above, by importing them from the microSD card, or if your contacts have been synced on the Google account you can retrieve them by syncing the contacts. To do so, follow the next instructions: 1. Go to the Home screen and tap the Menu icon. 2. Then select System settings -> Accounts & sync -> select the account where your contacts are backed up -> and make sure Sync Contacts is enabled. 3. Then tap the Back key. Pairing with a Bluetooth Device 1. Make sure the other device has Bluetooth enabled. 2. Then from the Home screen of your Sprint Force, tap the Menu key. 3. Select System settings -> Bluetooth -> turn the setting ON. 4. Your smartphone will then search for Bluetooth-enabled devices in its range. Tap the desired Bluetooth device. 5. In case a Bluetooth pairing request is prompted, enter the passkeys and select Pair. 6. If you're not sure about the passkey, enter 0000 or 1234, as this is the default one on most Bluetooth devices. 7. After you've successfully paired with the other device, start transferring your contacts. 8. When the transfer is complete, open your smartphone and follow the on-screen prompts to load the contacts to your contacts list. |
| How-to: Set Up POP/IMAP Email on the Sprint Force Posted: 09 Mar 2013 12:07 PM PST Setting up IMAP Email 1. Go to the home screen and tap Email. 2. Or if you no longer have the Email shortcut on your home screen, tap All Apps -> Email. 3. If the email account hasn't been set up yet, then you're going to see the Set up email screen automatically. 4. Tap the Email address field and enter the desired email address. 5. Tap the Password field and type in your password. 6. Then tap Next. 7. But in case you have already set up an email account, tap the Menu key -> select Account settings and choose Add account and enter the desired email address and password. 8. Your Sprint Force will try to find the necessary email settings by itself, if they're found, you can just follow the on-screen prompts to continue, but if the settings were not found, tap IMAP. 9. Check to see if the Username is the email address that you entered at Step 4. 10. The Password field should be auto-populated already from the previous step, but tap Show password just to make sure it was introduced correctly. 11. Then tap the IMAP server field and enter imap.mail.your-email-type.com. For example, imap.mail.yahoo.com. 12. Tap the Security type filed and select SSL/TLS. 13. Tap the Port field and enter 993. 14. Check to see if the settings are correct and then tap Next. 15. In the SMTP field, enter smtp.mail.your-email-type.com. For example: smtp.mail.yahoo.com. 16. Then tap Security type and select SSL/TLS. 17. In the Port field enter 465. 18. In case the server requires authentication, check Require sign-in. 19. The Username and Password should already be populated from the previous steps, so just tap Next. 20. Make the desired account settings and then tap Next. 21. Tap account name and enter a name. 22. Tap the Your name field and enter the name as you'd like it to appear on the outgoing messages and tap Next. 23. Congratulations, your IMAP account has been set up. Setting Up POP Email 1. For example: pop3.live.com. 11. In the Security type field enter SSL/TLS. 12. Tap the Port field and enter 995, then tap Next. 13. Tap the SMTP server field and enter smtp.your-email-type.com. For example, smtp.live.com. 14. Tap the Port field and enter 587. 15. The Username and Password should already be populated from the previous steps, so just tap Next. 16. Make the desired account settings and then tap Next. 17. Tap account name and enter a name. 18. Tap the Your name field and enter the name as you'd like it to appear on the outgoing messages and tap Next. 19. Congratulations, your POP account has been set up. |
