How-to: ZTE Concord II (T-Mobile): Barring / Forwarding Calls; Manage the Call Log

Call Barring:

NOTE: You can set your ZTE Concord II to prevent certain types of phone calls from connecting to your device. To use this feature:

  1. Tap the "Phone" icon while viewing a home screen
  2. Press "Menu" and tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "Call Barring Settings"
  4. Mark the check boxes associated with the desired types of calls you wish to bar, such as "All outgoing", "All Incoming", "Incoming when roaming" etc.

Forwarding All Calls (Unconditional):

  1. Tap "Phone" from the home screen
  2. Tap the "Call Log" tab
  3. Press "Menu" and tap "Settings"
  4. Scroll to and tap "Call forwarding"
  5. Tap "Always forward" and type in the phone number you wish to forward your calls to
  6. Tap "Enable" and you should be able to see the forwarding number right under "Always Forward"

Forwarding Some Calls Only (Conditional):

  1. Tap "Phone" while on the home screen
  2. Go to the "Call Log" tab
  3. Press the "Menu" key and tap "Settings"
  4. Swipe to and tap "Call forwarding"
  5. Select to "Forward when busy", "Forward when unanswered" or "Forward when unreachable"
  6. Type in the phone number you wish to forward your calls to
  7. Tap "Update"

Cancelling Call Forwarding:

  1. Launch the "Phone" app
  2. From the "Call log" tab, press the "Menu" key
  3. Tap "Settings" > "Call forwarding"
  4. Tap "Always forward" > "Disable"

Viewing and Resetting the Call Log History:

  1. From any home screen, tap "Phone"
  2. Access the "Call log" tab. Here you can view the call log history
  3. To reset the call log, first press the "Menu" button
  4. Tap "Delete call log"
  5. Under "Delete call log", select to delete "All calls", "Incoming calls", "Outgoing calls" and / or "Missed calls"
  6. Mark the check box associated with the desired options and press "OK" twice to confirm and reset the call log

Setting the Length of Touch Tones (DTMF):

  1. Launch the "Phone" application
  2. Press "Menu"
  3. Tap "Settings" > "DTMF tones"
  4. Set the touch tones' length to be either "Normal" or "Long"

Transferring Audio Files from a Computer:

  1. Using the USB cable that in your Concord II's box, connect the smartphone to the PC
  2. While on the home screen, drag the "Notification" bar down
  3. Select "Disk Drive" as the USB connection type
  4. From the AutoPlay window that should appear on your computer, click to "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer"
  5. Go to the "Media" folder
  6. Open a second Windows Explorer window, and locate the desired audio files stored on your computer's HDD
  7. Copy the audio files and transfer them in the "Ringtones", "Alarms" and / or "Audio/Notifications" folders located within the "Media" folder mentioned above
  8. Once the transfer is complete, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon from the system tray
  9. Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
  10. It's now safe to disconnect your smartphone from the PC

Changing Your Phone's Ringtone:

  1. From the home screen, press "Menu"
  2. Tap "System settings" > "Sound"
  3. Tap "Phone Ringtone" and select "Ringtone", "Music" or "Record"
  4. Tap the desired ringtone (or record one) to assign it
  5. Press "OK" to confirm

Changing the Ringtone for One Contact:

  1. Tap the "People" icon located on the home screen
  2. Access the "All contacts" tab
  3. Select the desired contact and press "Menu"
  4. Tap "Set ringtone"
  5. Choose "Ringtone", "Music" or "Record"
  6. Select the desired ringtone for the contact
  7. Press "OK" to save the changes

Changing the Notification Sound:

  1. Press "Menu" from the home screen and tap "System Settings"
  2. Go to "Sound" > "Default notification sound"
  3. Select from the "Notifytone", "Music" or "Record" tabs
  4. Choose the sound you wish to use for notifications
  5. Press "OK" to confirm

Inserting and Removing the SD Card:

  1. With your smartphone turned off, open the microSD card slot
  2. Gently slide the card into its tray with the contacts facing up (the tray should easily click into place)
  3. To remove the card, press the "Menu" key from the home screen
  4. Tap "System settings" and swipe to "Device"
  5. Tap "Storage" > "Unmount SD card"
  6. A message will appear informing you that it's safe to remove the card
  7. Open the microSD card slot
  8. Remove the card and refit the card tray

Viewing the Amount of Space Available on the SD Card:

  1. From the home screen, press "Menu"
  2. Tap "System Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Device" and tap "Storage"
  4. The "Total space" value is visible under "SD Card"

Formatting the SD Card:

WARNING! Formatting the SD card will result in the deletion of all data stored on it. This includes downloaded files, custom ringtones, pictures, media files, contacts, backup files etc. Before proceeding with the format, it's recommended that you back up your important files. To format the SD Card:

  1. While on a home screen, press "Menu"
  2. Tap "System Settings" and swipe to "Device"
  3. Tap "Storage" > "Erase internal SD card"
  4. Tap "Erase SD card" > "Erase everything"

Opening or Deleting SD Card Files Using a Computer:

  1. Use the USB cable to connect the ZTE Concord II to your computer
  2. On the smartphone, tap "USB mass storage"
  3. On the computer, navigate to your phone's SD card storage
  4. Open and / or delete the desired files
  5. When you're done, click the "mass storage device" icon from the system tray and safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer

Opening or Deleting SD Card Files Using the Smartphone:

  1. Tap the "Apps" icon while on the home screen
  2. Open "File Manager"
  3. Access the "SD Card" tab
  4. Locate the desired folder and open or delete the desired files

Transferring Files between the SD Card and Computer:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the ZTE Concord and computer
  2. Tap "USB mass storage" on the smartphone
  3. On the computer, navigate to the desired files stored on your PC or SD card
  4. Copy the files to / from the SD card
  5. Once the transfer is done, safely disconnect your smartphone by ejecting it from the system tray

Transferring Files between the Internal and External Storage:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch the "File Manager" application
  3. Tap "System" and locate the desired folder or file
  4. Tap the file and select "Copy"
  5. Tap and hold the destination folder and tap "Paste"
  6. Press "OK" to confirm
