Seeking Smartphone Advice, etc.

Posted: 26 Oct 2014 01:26 PM PDT

Hi, I'm going to be buying my first smartphone in the next couple months. I absolutely REFUSE to buy a new phone under a contract. I have paid AT&T's overpriced rates for more than 10 years.

My plan is to buy a used Samsung model 1-2 years old, cash, then find a cheap data provider.

Can someone recommend a good seller of used phones, plus a good cheap company for the data plan.

Thanks.

Hands down I gotta give them props! I unlocked my phone the same day. No gimmicks, no scheme, no scams! All the way legit. I thank them so much. I will do business with them if I needed to in the near future. I am so happy that I didn't have to purchase a new phone because mine was locked. Thank you sooo much. I usually don't write reviews but Free Unlocks earned it!
To begin unlocking almost any cell phone at FreeUnlocks.com, simply visit our website and select a model and a brand of a phone you are interested in unlocking. After you have selected the phone you want to unlock, tell us a phone carrier your phone is locked to and a country you reside in. Then proceed with selecting to either unlock your cell phone for free or for a reasonable and competitive fee. If you select to unlock your cell phone for free, you will be required to complete one free offer by any TrialPay vendor listed on the site. TrialPay is one of major e-commerce websites and our partner. TrialPay works with a big variety of vendors and offers product in different categories. After you've finished completing the offer you have picked, your order will be processed and paid for by TrialPay. After that we will start generating an unlock code for your phone. With the majority of phone unlocks, we only spend approximately 25 minutes on generating a valid code, but in some very few occasions, we may require more time and sometimes end up spending around 48 hours before we generate a functional unlock code.

Furthermore, after your code's been generated, we will send an email to you that will include your unlock code and the instructions that you need to follow in order to unlock your phone quickly and easily. Thus, just follow the steps written in the instructions and your phone will be unlocked in no time!

How to Restore iPhone contacts after crash?

Posted: 13 Oct 2014 06:51 PM PDT

1. I lost al my contacts on my iPhone and I haven t backed it up in months. But I recently did plug my iPhone into iTunes. Would that have my contacts on it? - Asked by: Audrey23

2. I lost my i phone 4 in a crash and i cant rember any thing about the crash is there a way to find it? - Asked by: Lyndon

If you like the above Audrey & Lyndon, your iPhone crashed and lost your contacts, what can you do next? Of course, you want to restore iPhone contacts after crash from iTunes backup or iCloud backup, the important thing is how do that. The backup file of iPhone contacts on iTunes is SQlitedb file, which is not allowed to be previewed or be restored to your iPhone.

Then what you should do? A third-party iPhone contacts recovery maybe your last choice. Here we recommend the FoneLab and Mac FoneLab, which is one iPhone Contacts Recovery software, it can restore your lost contacts, messages, notes, bookmarks, etc from your iPhone, iTunes Backup or iCloud Backup with restorable file formats, like .vcf and .csv. Allowing for the case of iPhone or system crash. Here we take Recover from iTunes Backup File for example.

Step 1: Download the FoneLab
when you download, install and launch it, you will see the main interface as below, it provide 3 ways to recover iPhone contacts.

Step 2: Choose Recovery Mode and enter scanning process
Here, we choose "Recover from iTunes Backup File", it will detect all the data that your iTunes ever backup automatically, Then select the correct iPhone type you have stored and click "Start Scan" and then it will enter scanning process.

Step 3: Extract iTunes backup and Recover Contacts
After minutes of scanning, all backup files will be extracted and shown on the left. Click "Contacts", you will see all the contacts info on the right side. Select the contacts that you need to restore and then click "Recover" button and save the contacts to your computer.

Plus, if you want to transfer the .vcf and .csv(contacts file format) to iPhone, you need another tool: TunesGo, you can check it.

What determines unlocked phone compatibility with a different network?

Posted: 06 Oct 2014 10:58 AM PDT

Hi,
I wonder, if a phone is unlocked and it supports the frequency bands of a particular network, does it mean it will work in this network, or there are some other factors besides frequencies that determine the phone compatibility?

For example, if it's a GSM phone which also supports 850 and 1900 MHz [that are used in CDMA networks], will it work in a CDMA network (such as Sprint) with a proper sim card?

How-to: ZTE ZMAX: Clear App / Phone Cache; Reboot in Safe Mode

Posted: 01 Oct 2014 01:39 AM PDT

Clearing an Application's Cache or Data:

NOTE: In case one of your applications isn't working properly, then you can try and fix it by clearing the app's cache, or data.

WARNING! Clearing an application's data will result in the deletion of all personal data stored within the app, including login information, saved games, settings, credit card information, high score, profiles etc. As such, it's recommended that you first try and solve these issues by clearing the app's cache

  1. While on the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Tap "Settings" and scroll to "Device"
  3. Tap "Apps" and swipe to "All", "Running" or "Downloaded"
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap "Clear cache"
  6. If clearing the cache hasn't helped, tap "Clear data" too and press "OK" to confirm

Wiping the Phone's Cache Partition:

NOTE: Assuming that your phone is not working as intended and causes issues, freezes, crashes etc. then you might be able to fix these issues while avoiding master resetting your handset, by wiping its cache partition. Unlike a master reset, wiping the cache will not delete personal data stored on the phone's internal memory. To wipe the cache:

  1. Turn off the smartphone
  2. Press and hold the "Volume Up" and "Power" buttons at the same time
  3. When the "ZTE" logo appears on the screen, release the hardware keys
  4. At the recovery screen, press "Volume down" to navigate to and highlight "wipe cache partition"
  5. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option
  6. Wait for your device to display the "Cache wipe complete" message
  7. Press "Power" with "Reboot system now" selected, and wait for your smartphone to reboot

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition hasn't helped and you're now considering factory resetting the ZTE ZMAX, then visit this thread for a full guide

Safe Mode:

NOTE: Safe mode allows the user to reboot the smartphone without third party support. As such, in case you have installed a malicious app that prevents you to uninstall it while running, reboot your device in safe mode and then easily remove the app, as explained below:

  1. With your smartphone turned on, press and hold the "Power" key
  2. Tap and hold the "Power off" option until a dialog box appears
  3. Press "OK" to confirm rebooting in safe mode
  4. After the phone reboots in safe mode, tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  5. Tap "Settings" and swipe to "Device"
  6. Tap "Apps" and swipe to the "Downloaded" screen
  7. Select the desired app and tap "Uninstall"
  8. Press "OK" to confirm
  9. To exit safe mode, press and hold the "Power" button
  10. Tap "Restart" and press "OK"
