I just want a new phone and I don't want a data plan!!

Posted: 30 Apr 2011 05:50 AM PDT

I need to replace my current, damaged phone (Sony Ericsson w580i).

I'm with AT&T but not under contract; Verizon also works well here.

I have an old HTC T-Mobile Dash that I can supposedly unlock for around $40.

I need a phone that syncs with a computer and has the standard address book, calendar, alarm, and calculator -- and is as robust as the Dash (the Sony Ericcson flies apart at the smallest bump, then is terribly loose once put back together).

(Optionally, I'd love to use it as a remote control, like it's so easy to do with an iPhone, but that's probably just a dream).

I want to stay at my current price per month - NO DATA PLAN.

I need to spend $50 or less on the phone.

Any ideas? Would the old Dash work without AT&T automatically adding a data plan? I've read other posts, but the information seems conflicting.

Thanks,

Cindy Rae

Buy Nexus S2 or iPhone?

Posted: 29 Apr 2011 06:40 AM PDT

Hi,

I want to buy a smart phone, but I have two choices. One is Samsung Nexus S and the other is iPhone 4. So which one do you think is better if price is not a problem? Just give me suggestion, Thanks.

Which of those 3 phones is the best

Posted: 28 Apr 2011 02:31 PM PDT

Hey guys. I'm kinda in a hurry and I have to pick between those 3 phones till tomorrow and I don't know which one is the best.

I'll tell you, what I find useful in those 3 phones:

Nokia X6
Nokia X6 - Full phone specifications
Phone has 16 gb of internal hard drive which I find very useful, since I like listening to music a lot. I have most experience with Nokia phones.

Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830
Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 - Full phone specifications
Samsung has Android, and I never used Android before and I'm interested in it. I also heard that the phone is fast, which I like.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz
Sony Ericsson Vivaz - Full phone specifications
This phone records in 720p which I like a lot, but unfortunately I've heard it's a bit slow phone and also kind of unresponsive.

Guys I really don't know what to pick. I have to choose fast. Which one is the best, help.

Single vs. Dual Core Processors

Posted: 27 Apr 2011 11:44 AM PDT

I currently have an iphone 3GS with ATT and my contract is up. I'm anxious to get the hell away from ATT and get onto Verizon.

I was thinking of getting the Thunderbolt, but decided to wait for one of the dual-core phones (I had my eye on the Samsung Galaxy S2, which looks like a monster). Now all the dual-core phones seem to be getting delayed...or, the ones that are coming out are inferior to the Thunderbolt in one important way or another (for example, smaller screen - a big screen is important to me).

So my question is: Is it worth it to wait for a dual-core phone? Exactly how big of a difference would I see between a Thunderbolt and a dual-core? What would I be missing out on, specifically? Is it just the speed at which applications open?

Getting an LG Dare...

Posted: 26 Apr 2011 03:59 PM PDT

I ordered an LG Dare on ebay today and I was wondering if it will need lots of updating or anything?I know it came out a few years ago but it looks like a very nice phone.Would it still work with Verizon's service today?

Thanks,
Ty

News: Sony S1 & Sony S2 Tablets

Posted: 26 Apr 2011 07:05 AM PDT

Tablets have become a hot item lately and now Sony is coming out with not one, but two Sony Tablets; S1 and S2 are the names of the tablets and were reveiled today by Sony. Not much info was given about the two Sony Tablets, but this is what we do know.

The S1 tablet has a disply of 9.4" and the S2 has a dual 5.5" display, which totals a 10.1 inch screen, which comes in a folding device that makes it easy to tote around. Both tablets will run on Android 3.0 Honeycomb and will come with these following features:

Wi-Fi
WAN (3G/4G) modems available,
DLNA support, acting as remote controls for some Sony A/V equipment
run Sony cloud entertainment "Qriocity" service,
Playstation Network support

Can't get Java or Flash

Posted: 25 Apr 2011 04:22 AM PDT

I love my iPhone but I can't download anything using Java applets or Flash which means some of my favorite sites can't be accessed. I think it's a copyright problem. Can the new Windows phones download Java and flash? I tried to get Java on an htc phone at the AT&T store and it wouldn't load, either. Do any cell phones get Firefox, Java or flash? It's very annoying.

Tablets are seemingly becoming more popular and yet, another tablet is in the making. This tablet may be slightly different as it is called ThinkPad, which runs on Android 3.0 (not Windows 7), and has a dual core Tegra 2 processor. Other features of this ThinkPad include:
IPS 1280 x 800 display
Capacitive pens
55-inch thin
USB 2.0,
Micro USB
mini-HDMI ports
SD card slot

The ThinkPad as a full keyboard attachment, as shown in the photo above and is said to come with a themed UI.
