Iphone 3gs is it worth it? smasung exhibit

Posted: 31 May 2012 05:39 AM PDT

So i ordered 2 free phones, a samsung exhibit 2 4g and a apple iphone 3gs (samsung T-Mobile iphone att)

Witch 1 of these phones would be the better choice to keep? most stable and lagg less.
Im not really interested in playing games on my phone i got a ps3 for playing games.

I like to text alot and talk occasionally.
Most of the time when i web browse i will be doing it via wifi at my house but also very occasionally while im at work.

All i really want is a phone that will be stable and work really good for about a year until i can get my money situation back together, after then ill buy either a unlocked phone or a phone from the company at a no commitment price.

I tired asking howard forums all they did was disregard my comments and tell me how there both trash and i should only get a iphone 4s or a Samsung galaxy s2.

If i had the money id get a better phone but i dont so my options are kind of that. What would be the better choice?

(dont base your suggestion of the samsung being 4g capable because i dont have 4g in my area so itll be on 3g)

Is there a Phone with all of these long list of features?

Posted: 30 May 2012 04:40 PM PDT

Hello,

I'm from India so some cell phones that work in the U.S. or available there might not be available here or work here.

I need some specific features in a mobile which I wish to buy sometime very soon. I'm listing the must have features followed by the features that would be good to have or a plus.

A flip phone is preferred but if not available, a bar or slider phone is fine. Budget is about USD 250.

Must-have features:

1. Loud and good music quality like the Nokia 5800-XpressMusic.
2. Support for 32 GB microSD card.
3. Be able to set multiple alarms (at least 6) even for one day. And the alarms should be able to repeat hourly. Also, should be able to use or select which MP3 file to play for each alarm.
4. The Music UI should not be slow even when using a 32 GB microSD card. The scrolling in the playlist, the gallery (memory card) and in the contacts should be fast.
5. Fast-forwarding and rewinding of audio and video should be fast and not take very long to do.
6. Should have high battery life, and have at least 1320mAH battery.
7. At least 5 hours of music playback using the built-in speakers and at least 10 hours of talk-time.
8. Should have torch light. Some phones have a camera flash and use it as a torch light too. That would do fine.
9. Should be able to mark and delete muliple SMS and files. Nokia X2-02 doesn't have this feature.
10. Atleast 2000 contacts and SMS storage, better unlimited.
11. Should have at least BlueTooth 2.0 with A2DP

Good to have features:

1. At least 2 MP camera, 3 MP would be better and flash would be an added advantage but not a must have.
2. FM should work with built-in antenna.
3. Should be able to record FM.
4. Should be able to record calls.
5. Memory card should be hot-swappable and removable from the side and not under the battery.
6. WiFi support would be a plus too, 3G not needed but don't mind it if it comes along with the WiFi.
7. Document viewer and editor would be a plus.

Not very important but these features would be nice too:

1. Photo viewer should have a slideshow feature, and previous and next buttons. Also should be able to view photos in landscape mode.
2. Should be able to view 3GP and Xvid/DivX MP4 videos.
3. Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and A2DP would be a plus.
4. Internal phone memory should (user memory) should be at least 50 MB.
5. Easily accessible volume keys and music keys.
6. The music player should remember which song was played last.
7. Should have ToDo list, Notes, Alarms, Reminders, Calendar, Calculator.
8. Should have updates to the firmware available.
9. Custom wallpapers support.
10. Support for adding custom ringtones
11. List contacts by phone or by SIM
12. Support for contact groups.
13. Multiple numbers for each contact.
14. The shortcut keys should be customizable.
15. SMS and Phone number reject list or block lists.

All help appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Casper

Can I swap motheboards

Posted: 28 May 2012 11:28 AM PDT

My screen broke on my Samsung Stratosphere. I filed a claim with my insurance and a new phone is on its way. My question is: can I swap the motherboards out? Or will the new phone with a new IMEI replace the one on my broken phone(as far as ownership and ties to my account)? I don't want to loose everything I have stored on the phone. Especially my spot in games I've spent hours on.

Samsung Droid Charge or Motorola Droid X2?

Posted: 28 May 2012 09:29 AM PDT

My first post. I will be getting my first smartphone soon and have a question.

I am debating in between the Samsung Droid Charge and the Motorola Droid X2. At the moment I am mainly leaning towards the Charge for its AMOLED display. (I own a Cowon S9 so I know how AMOLED performs). However, there is something else that might make me change my decision.

The Motorola X2 has the dual-core processor advantage over the Samsung's Charge 1GHz Single-core. Now I have to ask:

Are multi-core smartphones really a necessity to have if one wants to stay current with the upcoming quad-core processor phones? I am asking this because I will plan on watching flash video content mainly when browsing the internet from the phone.

Individual text tones

Posted: 23 May 2012 07:01 PM PDT

I'm due for a new cell phone, but I'm so in love with the features I had on my previous phone, which I hated to give it up. I was able to designate a specific ring tone for each contact, and ANOTHER ring tone for that contact's text messages. I primarily use my phone for texting, having one text alert no matter who sent the text is NOT an option for me to deal with for another 2 years.

I'm having the hardest time finding out what phones (any style, any features) have this option.

If this is a dead option that doesn't exist on any new phones (though it's fab and should be included in all) I would be willing to have a phone where I can assign a ringtone to a contact and have the same ringtone tell me when that contact called or texted.

Is anyone familiar enough with the Verizon phones, pdas, blackberry, etc that they can tell me what model numbers I should look for for this feature? Any help would be great.

And I had my heart set on an Iphone 4s for a while, but all my friends tell me to go the opposite way.
