Taking over ATT contract ending Oct-2012 (hardly 2 more months)

Can you please let me know, if anyone is interested in taking over a couple of ATT telephone services for which contract is ending on 13-Oct-2012?.

Disabling 3G and forcing 1X to save battery life?

On the verizon network, I have a 3G and 1X bars on the top. I have been able to go into my service menu and there is an option to disable. I do not use my phone for anything but talking / textin. Will this save my battery life by using 1X only? Is there anything else that will be limited if I do this?

BTW, the phone is a Vx8575 chocolate touch

Let me get this out of the way first: the Nexus 7 is not a smartphone, nor is it a tablet designed for incoming / outgoing calls like the original Galaxy Tab from Samsung. The Nexus 7 is a very basic tablet that is meant for doing tasks like surfing the web, socializing on Facebook, Twitter, sending / receiving email, play games, video chat via Skype or Google Talk etc. i.e. nothing to do with phone calls.

But, if you want to, there is a way to make your Nexus 7 handle phone calls. It's not particularly straightforward as you will be required to set up multiple accounts and apps and even, in one part of the guide, modify an APK file, but if you take backups prior to strictlyfollowing the guide, you should do just fine.

quad-core Android smartphone MI-2 announced

Looks like the rumors were right. Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi's latest handset, the Xiaomi MI2 , will come loaded with Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, the APQ8064. It's the first smartphone in the world to use this chipset and will run Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).
