To measure the power consumed by a mobile device for a specific task

Posted: 18 Sep 2012 05:54 AM PDT

Friends,

I need a help regarding my academic project where I am trying to measure the power consumed by a mobile device for a specific task. For example if we are using a calculator application and I perform addition of two numbers. I want to check the power consumed for this particular operation of addition. There are few applications like PowerTutor in Android mobiles, but they give the power consumed by the mobile on whole and not for a specific task. Can you please guide me or provide technical tips on this? Thanks, in advance!

Unlock Huawei Ascend G300

Posted: 18 Sep 2012 04:08 AM PDT

This phone has really shocked us at Mobile Unlocked. The most popular phones to be unlocked are usually the Samsung Galaxy S3 or the HTC One X, but slowly the Huawei Ascend G300 has become one of the top phones in our database.

Hopefully then, this little snippet of information on how to unlock the Huawei Ascend G300 yourself, will help quite a few people.

You do have a few options:

Phone Shop

You can of course go to a local phone unlocking shop, but this requires not only leaving the house, but likely paying a premium. Some shops will also require you to leave your phone with them - which is never great news.

Call your network

Another alternative is getting in touch with your current network. Some networks have quite a few stipulations on handing out your unlock code (which is understandable) and are also known to charge a set rate - often more than the phone is worth.

Order a code online

This is where we come in. You will have to find your Ascend's IMEI (just dial *#06#) but with that, you can place the order on this page and we'll email you the code as soon as it is found. We'll also email you the instructions to enter it, which I'll include below as well.

Instructions once have your unlock code

Very simple to follow:

1. Insert a non-accepted SIM card
2. The G300 will prompt you for your unlock code
3. Enter it
4. Phone is unlocked

So if you are keen to unlock your Huawei Ascend G300 and want to start using a different network than the one your phone is currently locked to, choose any of the methods above and you'll be unlocked in no time.

All the best,

Darren.

SMS to Canada and back for Free (Verizon / Telus customers, please help)

Posted: 17 Sep 2012 08:21 PM PDT

I want to text a specific cell phone, and receive text messages from that cell phone, without being charged a quarter or so per text (Ridiculous!). Right now I've finagled a one-way system for texting her, that involves me texting a google voice number, receiving a copy of that text, fwding it to [hernumber]@msg.telus.com BUT, because I cannot obtain a canadian google voice number, I can't reverse the process so she can text me back for free

RECENTLY, I've learned that not only can I receive e-mail as SMS, but I can send e-mail as SMS as well? If so this would vastly simplify the system I think- I merely have to send a text to [hernumber]@msg.telus.com, and she responds by texting [mynumber]@vtext.com? Would this incur any charges?

Assume we both want to send and receive messages to each other on our phones, and neither of us have data plans or smart phones
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
