As any seasoned smartphone user would tell you, battery life is very important on your device, and in order to gain more battery life from your smartphone, you need to manage it accordingly. Below you will find several simple tips and tricks that will allow you to increase your ZTE Grand S Flex's battery life on a daily basis.

Disabling Wi-Fi When Not in Use:

Wi-Fi can be quite demanding on your handset's battery, so it's highly recommended that you disable this feature when not in use. To do so:

  1. While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" key
  2. Tap "System settings" and go to "Wi-Fi"
  3. Slide the "Wi-Fi" switch to "OFF" to disable this feature

Disabling Bluetooth When Not in Use:

Much like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth can also hit your battery pretty hard. That's why you should disable Bluetooth whenever you're not actually using it. To do so:

  1. Press the "Menu" key while viewing the home screen
  2. Tap "System settings"
  3. Tap "Bluetooth"
  4. Slide the "On / Off" slider associated with Bluetooth and set it to "OFF"

Disabling GPS When Not in Use:

GPS is one of the most battery demanding features on any smartphone. It takes a lot of juice to connect directly to a satellite, so it's highly recommended that you don't leave GPS enabled when not in use.

  1. From the home screen, press the "Menu" key
  2. Tap "System settings"
  3. Go to "Location services"
  4. Unmark the "GPS satellites" check box in order to disable GPS connectivity

Changing the Screen Brightness:

A smartphone's screen is also a prime component that is quite demanding on battery life. As such, you can conserve battery life by decreasing the screen's brightness. The brighter a screen is, the more battery it needs.

  2. Tap "System settings"
  3. Tap "Display" > "Brightness"
  4. Unmark the check box associated with "Automatic brightness"

  6. Tap "OK" to confirm

Disabling Your Live Wallpaper:

Live wallpapers need a certain degree of processing, and that extra processing needs extra juice from your battery. To maximize your handset's battery life, it's recommended that you don't use a live wallpaper.

NOTE: some live wallpapers require more battery than others.

  1. From any of the home screens, press the "Menu" key
  2. Tap "Wallpaper" and select "Home"
  3. Select the location from where you wish to pick a static wallpaper (such as "Gallery" or "Wallpapers")
  4. For gallery images, crop the image and tap "OK" to confirm. For wallpapers, select the desired one and tap "Set"

Disabling Touch Sounds:

Although this isn't one of the main features that you should worry about when conserving battery life, disabling touch sounds can also help. To do so:

  1. Tap "Menu" while viewing the home screen
  2. Go to "System settings" and tap "Sound"
  3. Unmark the check box associated with "Touch sounds"

Switching to 2G Networks Only:

In case of "emergency", you can always switch to 2G networks only, in order to save battery life. To do so:

  1. Press the "Menu" button while viewing the home screen
  2. Tap "System settings" > "Mobile networks"
  3. Mark the "Use only 2G networks" check box

Confusion about iPhone 5 shortcomings

Posted: 05 Dec 2013 03:24 AM PST

I currently have iPhone 5. I am satisfied but it is lacking certain features such as increasing memory by using a mini SD Card, and it won't download many Google features or Mozilla Firefox. Many videos are unable to play (Windows Player). The screen gets washed-out in sunlight (need OLED screen), the battery must get charged 3X day and cannot be changed, the screen size is quite small and the unit gets very hot while charging. I was considering a Samsung Galaxy but 2 friends have battery problems with that as well. I am confused. Any suggestions?

OK, I've moved to an area with no Verizon coverage, so they are releasing me from my contract. US Cellular has coverage where I'm relocating. My question is, is there any way I can use this phone with Straight Talk? Or am I just stuck with a useless phone once I cancel/port my number?

need user manual for Chinese Galaxy s4

Posted: 28 Nov 2013 07:24 AM PST

Buying cell phones direct from China has its drawbacks. Although the phones are usually very nice, the manufacturers often leave a few important things out. Like a brand name. And a user manual one can actually read and understand. Just got one of these puppies. It appears to be a clone of the Galaxie S4. So I DLd the GS4 user manual (the Verizon version...close enough, I thought).

Well, it is close but not close enough. There are too many menues that don't match up.

The "brand name" in the tiny, useless user manual is: GSM/GPRS. The model number (from the phone) is: Y9190.

From this info, is it possible to determine what, if any, major brand user manual will work with this phone?

Appreciate your help.

Apple vs. Samsung: Who really won

Posted: 25 Nov 2013 09:37 PM PST

It turns out the fight between Apple and Samsung over patent infringements may never really end. Every time we think one or the other has finally won, we hear about another court battle that is coming up. Not only have the two fought over and over in court in the US, but they have also been fighting all over the world going from country to country to keep it up. Apple claiming Samsung stole technology while Samsung claims that is absurd, the fight continues.

Samsung lost this battle

Samsung "lost" its most recent court case when a jury ordered Samsung to pay Apple $290 million for infringing patents. Apple was asking for $380 million and Samsung only wanted to pay out $52 million, according to PC World, so it seems as if Apple won this time. The verdict was made to help Apple make up for lost profits because of the popularity of the Samsung phones. Now, Apple is owed $930 million from Samsung since a verdict last year in San Jose also directed Samsung to pay $450 million. But just because Samsung lost the most recent couple of battles doesn't mean that Apple has won the war.

Samsung winning in the end

The reason why the jury, in the end, decided to award the cash to Apple was because they agreed Apple must have lost some customers to Samsung. The whole argument behind everything was that Samsung used Apple's technology to create phones and steal clients from Apple. Samsung argued, on the other hand, that customers who chose Samsung did so for reasons not associated with the proposed thieved technology and that Apple did not lose any customers.

In the end, it looks like Samsung has gotten away with stealing the Apple technology, or at least creating very similar technology, and only got a small slap on the wrist. Samsung has new, permanent customers because of their great phones which means Apple has permanently lost a lot of customers. Apple may have won a bit of cash, but it will never make up for the lost customers, especially if Apple can't figure out a new way to innovate and bring old customers back. Since neither of them seem to be able to innovate, all they have left is to argue in court.

Technology still all the same with texting

No matter what these phone manufacturers do, none of them have figured out a way to create technology to get rid of texting. Texting is a key point to any good cell phone. Nobody has yet come up with a way to sell a phone without that important technology. That means your business is safe creating a completely new marketing strategy involving texting systems. Get started today, so you can beat out all your competition this holiday season. Getting your text marketing system in place may take a little bit of time, but it will be worth it in the end if you can bring in a lot of extra business.
