Would a new phone...

Posted: 04 Sep 2014 06:17 AM PDT

help? I have a Samsung SGH-A777 phone; an older 3g. I use it only to make and receive calls and the occasional photograph. In town it works great but 25 miles out of town at home I barely get a signal and it will not dial or receive calls. There are two towers about 10 miles away, almost line of sight. A small hill blocks a direct path. Other people's phones do work there but they have Verizon and not ATT as I do. Would a newer phone with a different chip work better?? We live in the boondocks and do not have any stores around that would give us a loaner to try overnight.. Ideas anyone? Thanks.
