How-to: Enable Tethering and Mobile Hotspot on the Alcatel One Touch Fierce

Downloading / Installing Drivers for Computers:

In order to use Tethering and Mobile HotSpot, you might need to download and install the necessary drivers first, depending on what operating system you are using on your PC.

  1. Connect your smartphone to your computer using the USB cable that came with your handset
  2. On your smartphone's screen, tap "All apps" while on the home screen
  3. Select "Settings"
  4. Under "Wireless & Networks", tap "More.."
  5. Tap "Tethering & Mobile HotSpot"
  6. Mark the check box associated with "USB tethering"
  7. If a "First Time User" window appears, tap "OK"
  8. Assuming that your PC runs on Windows XP, tap "Download Windows XP driver" and follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the necessary drivers
  9. In case your PC runs on Windows Vista / 7 or Linux, the necessary drivers will be downloaded automatically

Mobile Hotspot (via Wi-Fi) Management

NOTE: when using mobile hotspot, you may incur extra charges on your carrier agreement

Setting Up Mobile Hotspot:

  1. Tap the "All apps" icon located on the home screen
  2. Select "Settings"
  3. Under "Wireless & Networks", tap "More.."
  4. Tap "Tethering & Mobile HotSpot"
  5. Mark the check box associated with "Mobile Hotspot"
  6. Tap "Set up Mobile Hotspot" and enter the password
  7. When finished, tap "Save"

Enabling / Disabling Mobile Hotspot:

  1. From the home screen, tap "All Apps"
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "More.." under "Wireless & Networks"
  4. Tap "Tethering & Mobile HotSpot"
  5. Check or uncheck the "Mobile Hotspot" check box

Tethering Via USB

You can share your smartphone's data connection with your computer via the USB cable.

NOTE: when using mobile hotspot, you may incur extra charges on your carrier agreement.

  1. While on the home screen, tap "All Apps"
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "More.." under "Wireless & Networks"
  4. Tap "Tethering & Mobile Hotspot"
  5. Mark the check box associated with "USB tethering"
  6. It may take a while for the system to verify your account
  7. Once the word "Tethered" appears under "USB Tethering", the feature will be enabled

Data Usage Management

Viewing Data Usage by App:

  1. While on the home screen, tap the "All apps" icon
  2. Tap "System settings"
  3. Tap "Mobile Data"
  4. If desired, tap and hold the "Blue" bars, and slide them to the left and / or right to determine the period of time you wish to include
  5. Scroll down and view the list of applications that have used data connectivity (they are listed from most data used to least)
  6. Tap an app to access detailed information about its data usage

Using the Data Usage Indicator

The data usage indicator is a tool that can be used to determine data usage, and limit it in order to prevent extra charges on your smartphone bill. To access and use the data usage indicator:

  1. Tap the "All apps" icon located on the home screen
  2. Select "Settings"
  3. Tap "Data usage"
  4. If necessary, tap the switch associated with "Mobile data" and set it to "ON"
  5. Perform one (or more if applicable) of the following steps:
    • Enabling a data usage limit:
      1. Check the "Limit mobile data usage" check box
      2. Drag the "Red bar" on the graph, and set it to the desired amount. Once this limit is reached, your device will automatically disable data connectivity. Note: it's a good idea to set a lower limit than your actual data allowance. The method of measuring data used by your phone differs from the method used by the carrier
    • Setting a usage warning:
      1. Tap the "Orange" bar on the graph and slide it to the desired level, under the data limit (red) bar
      2. Once this value is reached, you will be notified / warned, but you will still be able to use data connectivity
    • Disabling data usage limit:
      1. Clear the "Limit mobile data usage" check box

Internet Browser Management

Clearing the Browser Cache, History and Cookies:

  1. While viewing the home screen, tap "All apps"
  2. Tap "Chrome" to launch the browser
  3. Press the "Menu" icon depicting three vertical dots
  4. Tap "History" > "Clear Browsing Data"
  5. Perform one or more (all) of the following steps:
    • To clear the browser cache:
      1. Select "Clear the cache"
      2. Tap "Clear"
    • To clear the browser cookies:
      1. Tap "Clear cookies, site data"
      2. Tap "Clear"
    • To clear the browser history:
      1. Select "Clear browsing history"
      2. Tap "Clear"

Using Tabbed Browsing

Opening an additional tab:

  1. While in the Chrome browser, tap the "Menu" icon
  2. Tap "New tab" to open a new window
  3. Alternatively, tap "New incognito" to add a tab for private browsing
    • To navigate between tabs:
      1. Tap the "Tabs" icon
      2. Swipe between tabs and tap the one that you wish to view
    • To close a tab:
      1. Tap the "Tabs" icon
      2. Press the "X" button associated with the tab(s) that you wish to close

Syncing Options

Adding or Editing / Removing Apps and Accounts to Sync on Your Google Account:

  1. Tap "All apps" on the home screen
  2. Select "Settings"
  3. Tap "Google" under "Accounts"
  4. Under the "Sync" menu, mark or uncheck the check boxes associated with the syncing options, such as "Sync Chrome", "Sync app data" and more

iphone 4s or lumia 720?

i am stuck bw iphone 4s n lumia 720...which one to buy???i heard 720 has had many issues....but has windows,good battery back up...i phone4s ..i've no idea...but battery wouldnt be as good as 720....pls suggest me which to buy....i am new here...
